To the extent that her book Everything We Never Knew makes references to her experiences while not being a memoir.

On an August 12 broadcast of former Ryan Seacrest’s show On Air With Ryan Seacrest, the Dancing With the Stars presenter clarified, “People call it factional, where it’s definitely fiction, but it’s definitely based on my life.”

In 2020, Julianne started writing the book, describing it as a “very, very big transformational time.”

The 36-year-old said, “I was going through some major healing from childhood and stuff like that.” I thought, “You know, I don’t really want to share all of my personal details with everybody,” as I was going through this experience. I kind of want to preserve some things. However, how can I use entertainment and this sensory experience to express the universal themes of my experiences—loss, grief, betrayal, violation, abandonment, and all those things that we all feel in different ways?

She even gave her beloved dog Lexi, who died in 2019 along with her other Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Harley at the hands of coyotes, the name of the main character.

She has been talking more candidly with her fans lately, sharing details of her early years, her divorce from ex-husband Brooks Laich, and the deaths of her dogs. As Julianne’s story progresses, she is eager to know what will happen in the upcoming chapters.

“It’s an ongoing journey, forever and ever,” she declared during the radio broadcast. “However, I must admit that I have never felt happier or more at ease and firmly rooted in who I am.”
