Mayim Bialik has shared that she is no longer serving as the host for “Jeopardy!”

Mayim Bialik took to social media on December 15 to announce that she will no longer be serving as the host for the syndicated version of “Jeopardy!” Sony informed her about this decision, and Bialik expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and thanked those who supported her during the journey. She had been sharing hosting duties with Ken Jennings. Bialik also mentioned that she was honored to be nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year.

Mayim Bialik’s departure from hosting the syndicated version of “Jeopardy!” does not clarify whether she will continue hosting spin-off shows. Sony has not provided additional comments at this time. In response to Bialik’s announcement, “Jeopardy!” released a statement expressing gratitude for her contributions and confirming that Ken Jennings will be the sole host for the syndicated version next season. The show expressed hope to continue working with Bialik on primetime specials. Bialik and Jennings were initially announced as co-hosts in July 2022, following the passing of longtime host Alex Trebek in 2020.

Mayim Bialik assumed hosting responsibilities for “Jeopardy!” during Season 38 after former executive producer Mike Richards stepped down from his role as Alex Trebek’s successor. Bialik is currently nominated for a 2023 Emmy award in the category of outstanding host for a game show for her work on “Jeopardy!” In a podcast episode of “Inside Jeopardy!” with Ken Jennings in August, they discussed the challenges of hosting the show after Trebek, highlighting the various factors involved, including managing time, considering fairness, and dealing with unexpected moments. Bialik, with a doctorate in neuroscience, acknowledged the added pressure due to her academic background.
